The lodge’s private observatory, with its fully retractable roof, houses one of Southern Africa’s largest privately owned telescopes — a 16” Meade Schmidt-Cassegrain — offering guests a rare opportunity to explore the vast beauty of the cosmos.

Our stargazing experience reveals celestial wonders such as the Southern Cross, the luminous Milky Way, Orion the Hunter, Scorpius, Leo, Pegasus, and the Jewel Box cluster. Guided by our knowledgeable field guides — gifted storytellers who weave together science and traditional African folklore — guests are invited to see the heavens through both a modern and ancient lens. The best time for stargazing is from autumn into winter when the skies are clear.
